If you have recently been sent for tests by the doctor or nurse such as blood tests, swabs, x-rays or scans then the doctor or nurse will call you back if the results need a discussion.
If you do not hear back about your results you can be reassured that there was nothing of concern.
If a doctor has tried to call you and not been able to get hold of you then they will send out a letter explaining what to do next.
You do not routinely need to ring the surgery about your results.
If you choose to ring the practice then the receptionist will not be able to convey any clinical information about your results.
As part of improving our services to you, we will now be piloting a text service. We will text our patients with their NORMAL blood result. This is in order to save you the time and effort of telephoning the surgery.
Any ABNORMAL results, the surgery will contact you in the usual way i.e. direct telephone call or letter.
This will only be for patients who have consented to receive text messages.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them. We also cannot give out results at the reception desk
