Welcome to Albany House Medical Centre

“Please be aware, due to sickness we are very short of staff, both admin and clinical. Because of this, the telephones will take longer to be answered and we will have fewer appointments available, thank you for your patients during this difficult time”

The Practice serves Wellingborough and surrounding areas. We provide services to over 18,400 patients from modern premises located in the town centre with car parking around the building and in the nearby Jackson's Lane car park, and good disabled access. We also have a branch surgery in Wollaston to serve patients with a NN29 post code.

We are one of Northamptonshire's leading teaching and training Practices, teaching both GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors. More details about training can be found in our GP training page.

We are also actively engaged in Research and Development (R & D), working in Partnership with  many of the leading Pharmaceuticals companies and academic bodies. For more information about our research work, please go to the R&D website.

Appointments - Care Navigation
The doctors have asked our receptionists to request some brief information about the nature of your problem when you contact us to arrange an appointment, this will enable us to direct you to the most appropriate Healthcare Professional. You do not have to do this, however this information will enable us to make best use of our resources to help you and other patients.

Your Blood Test Results

As part of improving our services to you, we will now be piloting a text service. We will text our patients with their NORMAL blood result. This is in order to save you the time and effort of telephoning the surgery.

Any ABNORMAL results, the surgery will contact you in the usual way i.e. direct telephone call or letter.

This will only be for patients who have consented to receive text messages.

Information governance

The legal framework governing the use of personal confidential data in health care is complex. It includes the NHS Act 2006, the Health and Social Care Act 2012, the Data Protection Act, and the Human Rights Act.

The law allows personal data to be shared between those offering care directly to patients but it protects patients’ confidentiality when data about them are used for other purposes. These “secondary uses” of data are essential if we are to run a safe, efficient, and equitable health service. They include:

  • Reviewing and improving the quality of care provided
  • Researching what treatments work best
  • Commissioning clinical services
  • Planning public health services

Generally speaking, people within the healthcare system using data for secondary purposes must only use data that do not identify individual patients unless they have the consent of the patient themselves. Patient information leaflet
